Monday 11/2 - We said our goodbyes to
Kenneth and Marilyn, and headed on
toward Cullman, AL, arriving at the
Cullman Campground ($25 – nice people, but not a campground I’d recommend,
haha.) We’re only here for an overnight so we can have lunch with our friends
tomorrow.
Tuesday, 11/3 - I got caught up a bit on email and my blog
this morning, and then we headed out to Speegle Contracting to meet up with our
dear friends Allen and Janice Speegle.
We miss them SO much and could not wait to have this time together, even
though it’s way too short.
You know sometimes you reconnect with
someone and it makes you realize how much you miss them without realizing
it. Allen and Janice were so much a part
of our lives for so many years, that I really miss knowing they’re in the same
area. Alabama is just too far away! Boooo
We left after lunch and drove on to Montgomery, AL. This was a fun stop for us, as this is where my very best girlfriend, Sheila Thomas, grew up, and it felt so neat to drive down Gaston St. knowing she used to ride her bike all up and down these streets and play outside here.
She couldn’t remember the house number so we weren’t able to identify the actual house, but we did know that the church her daddy pastored (Rev. Ponder Frederick), was on Finley, so I took a photo of the one I thought it was and texted to her and it WAS! How cool is that! Sheila was texting me some pretty funny memories she had of things that happened inside and outside this church on Finley.
This is where Sheila attended Middle School.

Dr. King's home....
We found this fascinating.... note the level of the water, and then see this sign regarding a time when the water rose to that level!!! Can you imagine?
I do NOT like this time change! It is so weird for it to be dark before you
ever have dinner! We went to Lek’s on
the Railroad Thai (isn’t that the cutest name?) for dinner and it was
scrumptious. I’m never 100% sure what
I’m getting so I always hope I like it.
haha
When we were walking back to the car, we saw this building across the street, and it really caught our eye. The whole top panel changes colors .....pretty cool!
Thursday 11/5 – we left Montgomery a
little early this morning to drive to Dothan, AL. We needed to take a webinar for our
continuing education this afternoon so we had to make sure we were in and set
up by 3:00. Then we about panicked when we remembered the time change! As 3:00
at home is 2:00 here, so we got on about 10 minutes late, but still made
it! Whew….
We’re not even unhooking the car
tonight. I made us a delicious Beef
& Broccoli dish in my Instant Pot and it was awesome!
Friday 11/6 - we are headed to our final destination before going home. Eagle's Roost is one of our favorite RV parks, and we've stayed there so many times, it feels almost like home to us.
We're going to take the weekend to relax a bit, eat at a couple of our favorite places here and maybe see a movie, as well as our usual reading.
Well, best laid plans...... got to Eagle's Roost and their cable provider has gone out of business so they have no internet and no cable! Bummer - we moved on just a few miles, no big deal to Jennings Outdoor Resort and Campground, actually it's about half the price of Eagle's Roost, so we're all set up.
It's almost strange to be back in really warm weather! We've become so accustomed to having a jacket with us everywhere and keeping our little heaters by our feet, and we're now able to put them away!
Saturday, we sat outside and enjoyed both the Gator game (another win, so Earl was a happy guy!) and the Clemson - Seminole game. Ryan was laughing at me as he knows I am NOT a football fan. But I told him it's hard not to watch as in the RV, I have no where else to go. LOL What a game. I told Earl I almost didn't know who to root for, as Mark and Lisa and Ryan are all Seminole fans (Vicki is a Gator fan, so she and Earl always celebrate those wins) and our friends Bob and Nancy Lentzy and our nephew, Mark are all crazy about Clemson, so we could just enjoy it, knowing SOMEbody was going to be happy! So congrats to Clemson.

This will be my final blog for 2015
as we’ll be getting home next week. Our
new grandbaby is due any day so we’re anxious to get home and see all the
family!
To all our family and friends who
have come along with us on our journey this year, we have loved having you join
us. We got to see a few friends along
the way which was delightful and to stay in touch with y’all through the blog
and Facebook really was great. This is
the map of the states we covered on this trip.
We put almost 12,000 miles on the RV! AND....another 12,000 on the car! Funny how close the mileage was, 400 miles more on the car, but if we'd had to take the RV all the 24,000 miles, it would have been lots more expensive and much less convenient.
We’ll pick up in the spring next year to get to all the rest of the states during 2016! Life is a wonderful adventure and we are grateful beyond words to have been blessed with this amazing opportunity! So thankful for God's protection over the many miles!
Come along with us next year! Hugs!
